Hubert Schmalix
Hubert Schmalix studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 1971 to 1976 under Max Melcher. In 1976, he had his first solo exhibition at the Künstlerhaus Vienna. In 1983, he participated in the art exhibition Aktuell 83 at the Lenbachhaus in Munich. In 1984, Schmalix went abroad. He found an exhibition opportunity at the Sydney Biennale and later spent some time in the Philippines, followed by a stay in the USA. In 1987, he moved to Los Angeles, where he still lives today.
Since 1997, he has been a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
