Julian Opie
Julian Gilbert Opie, born on December 12, 1958, in London, is a British painter, sculptor, and video artist. He studied at Goldsmiths College in London and gained international recognition with colored steel objects at documenta 8 in 1984. He is known for his portrait series, where he uses a computer program to reduce facial features to the essentials. In his recent works, Opie introduces movement into his minimalist figures, often displayed on large screens with computer-controlled animations. His pieces have been exhibited in prestigious galleries and museums worldwide, including the Venice Biennale in 1993 and Tate Britain in London in 2000.
