Julian Opie

Julian Gilbert Opie, born on December 12, 1958, in London, is a British painter, sculptor, and video artist. He studied at Goldsmiths College in London and gained international recognition with colored steel objects at documenta 8 in 1984. He is known for his portrait series, where he uses a computer program to reduce facial features to the essentials. In his recent works, Opie introduces movement into his minimalist figures, often displayed on large screens with computer-controlled animations. His pieces have been exhibited in prestigious galleries and museums worldwide, including the Venice Biennale in 1993 and Tate Britain in London in 2000. Julian Opie currently resides and works in London.
