Galerie Suppan Fine Arts' first show in 2018 is the group exhibition Works on Paper in which a diverse selection of drawings, watercolors, collages and graphics by Austrian and international artists is presented. This is intended to cover a wide range of artistic positions, with the medium of paper being the only constant. On the one hand, the show presents works by well-known artists, starting in the last century and represented in the gallery program, including Herbert Bayer, Herbert Boeckl, Josef Floch, Hugo Puck Dachinger, Hildegard Joos, Wolfgang Herzig, Robert Zeppel-Sperl, Adolf Frohner, Franz Ringel, Hermann Nitsch and many more. On the other hand, in this show, artists of today's time are to be confronted with the significance and the potential for assertiveness of the well-known formal idiom of these acknowledged protagonists. The selected works range from figurative sketches by Gustav Klimt and rare early drawings by Victor Vasarely to the geometric abstraction of Hildegard & Harold Joos, to automatic drawings by Franz Ringel, concentric "montages" by Hermann J. Painitz or abstract collages by Christian Hutzinger.
